Visual Communication

A picture is worth a thousand words. This tired axiom is more than a little detached from its core truth as the digital age matures. Clipart and stock photos abound, cell phone photography saturates visual based social media platforms as AI art threatens to overload an already strained visual medium environment. Clarity comes not through quantity of media but through the context that an individual image can provide.

Before the space race began with Sputnik reaching orbit in 1957, Wernher von Braun reached out to artist and designer Chesley Bonestell to illustrate his vision of the future.

Man Will Conquer Space Soon! contained the seed that would blossom into the cultural arc that lead to the creation of NASA and crescendoed with the moon landing.

Now, over 65 years later, these images are worth more than a thousand words as they have led to tens of thousands of careers affecting billions of people and still represent an unfulfilled potential of humanity’s role in space.
